Arctic Monkeys - Walk On The Wild Side (Live) (Lou Reed Cover)

Arctic Monkeys surprised fans at their gig in Liverpool last night by covering "Walk on the Wild Side" last night as part of their encore, the next in a long line of tributes to the late Lou Reed. Local boy Bill Ryder Jones (formerly of The Coral) came out to join the band on a number of tracks, including this cover - watch and listen below.

"Walk on the Wild Side" is arguably the most famous song in Lou Reed's collection. The former Velvet Underground vocalist is posthumously on for a chart position this weekend, with a spike in sales reported. According to the official UK charts, "Walk on the Wild Side" (1973) and "Perfect Day" (1972) are currently 33 and 38 respectively, while the 2004 remaster of "Satellite of Love" is at 138. The album from which they're all from, Transformer, is set for a album chart position - it's currently at 24.

Lou Reed passed away at his Long Island home on Sunday (October 27) after a long battle with liver disease - he was 71.
